Prescott Maid to Order shares tips on carpet cleaning in your Prescott home

Prescott Maid to Order can get and keep your Prescott home clean from top to bottom.
How would you like to make cleaning the carpet in your Prescott home quicker, easier, and more effective? Prescott Maid to Order can help you accomplish all three with a few handy tips.

1. To be effective, start by setting your vacuum cleaner at the right height. If it's too low you can damage both your carpet and your vacuum cleaner...specifically the drive belt and roller brush. If your vacuum’s height is too high, you're driving over the dirt instead of picking it up. How do you know what the right height is? Raise the height to the highest setting, turn the vacuum on and lower the setting until you can feel your vacuum slowing tugging itself forward as you start to clean.

2. To save time, vacuum often. Ironic, isn't it? The less you vacuum, the more you have to vacuum and for longer. Who wants to vacuum longer? Oily soils multiply and attract more oily soils. By vacuuming high-traffic areas more frequently you will help prevent soil buildup. To save time, don't let dirt build up and get ground into your high-traffic areas. It'll only take that much more time to get your carpet clean.

3. To make vacuuming easier,
begin with a clean bag or cup, and a clean filter. A nearly full bag or cup reduces your vacuum’s suction by half. If you want your bagless vacuum to be effective - and if you don't want it to stop working - clean its filter often. Wash or replace the filter at least every three months, keep the bag less than ¾ full, and empty the cup often.

And to really help, use mats outside and inside of every exterior door. Coarse mats help to remove soil before it hits the carpet.

Prescott Maid to Order understands that a few simple carpet-cleaning tips will make vacuuming the carpet in your Prescott home quicker, easier, and more effective. The easiest option of all is to let the carpet-cleaning experts at Prescott Maid to Order make not only your carpet beautifully clean again, but your whole house. Prescott Maid to Order Offers Tips on Getting Mud Out of Carpets

For muddy footprints on your carpets call Prescott Maid to order for Help!No matter where you live, there are lots of opportunities for getting mud on the carpets of your home. Snow and rain make it difficult to stop shoes from transferring the outside mud to your carpet. And if you have kids and pets, it makes things even harder, because they seldom remember to take their shoes off at the door, no matter how many times you remind them. So what to do when you end up with muddy traces on your carpet? Prescott Maid to Order can help you with all of your carpet cleaning needs, but we’d like to give you a few tips on how to get mud out of carpets so you don’t have to call us every time mud gets tracked in.

Let it Dry - It may sound weird, but mud is much easier to remove when it’s dry. Scrubbing it while wet just buries it deeper into the carpet and usually spreads it over a larger area making matters worse.

Vacuum - Once the mud is completely dry, slowly run the vacuum over the area (vacuuming slowly will remove more mud than a number of quick passes). Vacuum from 2-3 times longer than you normally would. Make sure you are vacuuming in various directions - about 16 slow passes at different angles at least.

Scrub - After you have removed as much dirt as possible with the vacuum, if you still see the mud, it is time to move on to a detergent solution.  Mix one-teaspoon mild dishwashing detergent (like Dawn) to one cup lukewarm water. Use a clean white cloth to blot the solution onto the carpet.  The white cloth will allow you to see the stain as you life it out of the carpet. Continue blotting, switching out the towel as necessary until the stain is gone.

Dry - Gently blot with a clean cloth or paper towels to dry the area.

Prevent - One good way to prevent mud from staining carpets is to create a mudroom or landing pad at your main entryway. You can use this area to remove shoes and towel off muddy pets before they track mud into the home.

If the carpet still has mud stains, it’s time to call Prescott Maid to Order.  We have powerful vacuums for dried mud, and offer carpet cleaning in Prescott for stains that are impossible to get out with home spot removal treatments.
